Baldur’s Gate III

So, I am not usually one to pay into early access of games because I’m always worried that they won’t finish the game ect ect. Well, I broke that by getting this game. I want you to keep in mind that I have been patiently waiting for this game and I was so excited to see that it was in a playable state and I just had to get into it.

As of the time of this review (10/13/2020) this game isn’t completed. It is in an Alpha/Early access launch so this review will not be complete as of yet. I will be going over that I like, dislike and had problems with so you can make your own choice. Obviously I am somewhat bias right now and I think you should get it, but read what I have to say and go from there šŸ™‚

So let’s get started with Character creation. There isn’t *that* many customization options. It’s not very in depth. Each race has preset faces, hair, horns ect. I wasn’t expecting a lot of customization right of the bat. But I personally find the faces are bleh, and I’m not excited about most of them. Each race has their own eye colors though that are pretty unique. There are about 6 classes right now to choose from which is also ok. I was excited to be able to make my D&D character in the game.

Movement is hit or miss. You can swap between free movement or turn based movement when out of combat. I did have a slight issue with movement where sometimes it wasn’t registering it, but I got around it. I just shrugged it off, made a note about it and moved in. I know what I was getting into when I got the game. I’m not going to be petty. If you can’t handle the game not seeing you click or moving then don’t get it right now. Wait until it comes out or more things are fixed.

The voice acting is very well done in my opinion. Sure sometimes the mouths don’t move and the character T-poses but that’s not anything I can’t get past. In fact, I think it’s hilarious and I think it gave the game charm. To match the voices, the graphics are super beautiful when they render. Sometimes you get those weird smooth graphics on characters or scenes. Though it takes away from the immersion….it’s not like I couldn’t get sucked back in.

Combat is also interesting. I think my horrible RNG followed me into this game. I found my rolls didn’t always work, which is fine. I died quite a few times because I didn’t make my saving throws or I just made bad moves. The combat is turned based, which I am partial to. I like the idea that I can see what my options are and I don’t feel that rushed. There are some mechanics you have to get used to and TK is a thing you can do. Trust me I did it many times on accident. RiP Us T.T

Level up is similar to that of D&D. You have skill points you can manually place or have the computer place what they think is best. There are also archetypes in the game as well and a spell book with a decent size. Sure you can’t just go around and pick any random spell but I do like that you can start with Grease. Who doesn’t like grease?! Synths. That’s who.

I made sure to keep in the dark about the story until today. I can tell this is a new era in the Forgotten Realms. From what I gathered from the intro, Mind Flayers (eeeeeeeeee!) have found a way to travel across the area on massive ships and you were captured. During the scenes a tadpole from their pool was given to you and your goal is to find a cure. There are several other side quests you can go on but at the same time you can just go about your business and get that thing out of your eye.

Over all, I’m happy with my purchase. Some of the weird ass bugs, glitches and other things can be annoying but it didn’t ruin my experience. I’m still rather happy with my purchase at the moment and I encourage you to check it out. Whether you wait or get it now is up to you. You can also check out my life stream from 10/7/2020 to see the game play and listen to me complain about Us dying or having to reset the game a few times to fix errors I made.

This early access gets 7/10 stars. I like the game but there’s still a lot that needs fixed. I knew what I was getting into when I got the game and I’m still happy with it.

Edit: While the game is staying at 7/10 stars I would like to add I have been experiencing some weird lag with some combat that caused me to restart my game to fix. So make sure you save when you can.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Final Thoughts

With the announcement of the physical copies of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands collectors editions I know that BFA is finally coming to a close. It’s time for my final review of the expansion and my hopes for the new one in several months.

So, I had already done my first review a few years ago. You can read it here. At the time, BFA was just here for me. There was a lot going on and a lot of gray areas in the story line. The slaughter of thousands of innocents, the betrayals…everything just made me feel unheroic. I’m sure you’re probably thinking.

“But Lily….you’ve been streaming BFA all the time why are you still sad?” Well let me tell you. To be honest with you guys, this expansion had a lot of promise. I finally felt like maybe, just maybe, the game was going to go back to it’s glory days. In some aspects it did. At the very same time though, it left my wanting more. I wanted to feel redeemed as the Champion of Azeroth. I wanted to really save her. I don’t feel like I did.

I know it seems crazy to care so much about an internet world so much but when you spend 15+ years in this universe it starts to grow on you. I digress though. The whole plot of this expansion made it seem like Lady Sylvanas was supposed to be a Garrosh 2.0. In fact she seemed slightly batshit. Now I want to add, I also read the books that are the intro to the expansions so I read about Arathi. It was heartbreaking, but that’s another story.

They really made her out to be a pawn of sorts. To be this character we are either to love or hate. She quite literally flew the bird at the Horde and even her own race. The same race that she had been working so hard to save. And for what….? What did she really accomplish? Not a lot if you ask me.

To be fair…the WTF face that forsaken guard made when she confessed that nobody meant anything to her anymore was pretty great. Gave me a good chuckle. But that was about it. There were so many wtf moments it’s hard to pick my favorite one, but this one is one of the good ones.

The real question I have for you guys was, do you even know what the whole reason of this expansion was? Because I seemed to have lost it. With a PvP mode that wasn’t ever watched or controlled by Blizz to the lack luster storyline they created it really makes me wonder, what exactly was the point of the “Battle for Azeroth”? Like was there a real point to anything?

I don’t even feel like a hero this time. The intro to this expansion was amazing and it really hit me in the feels, but now…I don’t feel anything. I feel like they just kind of tossed a lot out, retconned and lacked empathy for a lot of stuff. Personally, nothing really felt connected. What is the point of N’Zoth really? It felt like this was another fight that the Hero has to do to “save the world” in one way or another.

Don’t even get me started on War Mode. I know what you’re thinking “If you don’t like it turn it off” I get that. But, hear me out here. The lack of regulation there was made War Mode a nightmare. Literally, the opposite faction could do whatever they wanted (botting included kthx) and got away with it. There should still be some set of rules for this mode, but I feel there just wasn’t. War is cruel I suppose.

All in all, this was an expansion. It isn’t one of my favorite expansions, but it’s not my most hated expansion. The over simplifying of classes, the lack of any fun new mechanics and a broken part of the game doesn’t put it in my favor.

BFA is a solid 6/10 for me. In the beginning it was fun. At the same time, it got equally boring after some time. New patches and new content was fun, but in the end it lacked the ingredients to make it long lasting. I’m fairly disappointed by BFA…but at least I am not the only one.

But what does this mean?

I can’t wait for it to be over…and I hope that Shadowlands is better. The things I have seen so far have seemed to make it more favorable for me. However, time will tell what mysteries await us in the new lands. So until then, I will just keep running for mounts and trying to figure out what I am going to main. What will you be maining?

Cat Quest

Have you ever wanted to be a cat? Like seriously. A tiny little cat, with an amazing power…or do you think that Legend of Zelda games would be better as a kitten trying to save his sister?! No? Well….I think you’re wrong. Just saying. hehe

So this game was one of those random ones on my list. I’ve heard about it, and frankly I thought it was a myth until it showed up at my work the other day and I just knew I had to play it. So that’s what I did.

The storyline is rather adorably dark. You and your sister are out alone on a boat and then a big bad guy decides your sister is very important and then takes her, and tells you to shove off and then you wake up on a shore with a strange mark on your head and a weird Navi type cat is like “HEY LISTEN”

So, it’s a quasi open world adventure game where you get to play as cute little kittens and you fight various creatures, take on fun puzzles and grow your strength and your magic. It starts off with a great tutorial and really let you do things at your own pace for the most part. When you look into the new towns, there’s quite a few things you can do. You can sleep (you literally fall on the ground and it’s too cute) upgrade/purchase new magic spells and just talk to the different catizens and learns a bit more about the place.

The world scales rather nicely as you level. You can tell when something is a little bit more difficult but it’s literally nothing a little piece of armor or a new magic spell can’t solve. You really have to use the skills you’ve learned when you go after some enemies and I like that I have to e on my toes.

Honestly, I absolutely love this game and I have recommended it to everyone that is looking for a fun new game to play on their switch. Now, I am also aware that the game is a few years old, but I apologize for nothing. This is a great game and it has provided me with a lot of fun and I felt it was worthy of a review. So here you go. This is my review haha

I give this game a purr-fect score of 9/10 I loved this game. It kept me entertained long enough that i lost track of time and went to bed later than I usually do haha. It really knew how to suck me in and was worth the time.

This game is available on all platforms so just look it up šŸ˜€

Don’t forget to check out all of my other links n stuff and like share subscribe ect. There is a huge update that’s going to be made here on Saturday so keep in touch!!!

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

I wanted to wait to write this review until after raiding started to I can get a feel for the game and now just do it off of Dungeoning, Game play ect. I wanted to take the time to take in the gameā€¦Yeah that.

Well, now that I have had the chance to experience the expansion Iā€™ve deemed that itā€™s World of Warcraft in a different story line that unless you donā€™t have a clue you kind of catch on. What do you mean by that Unicorn?? Same game new graphics. Old characters brought back in a new world and they arenā€™t really old Characters. Screw the Bronze Dragonflight.

The game.

Itā€™s WoW. For those who have played it you know what Iā€™m talking about. Youā€™re the Hero among millions of Heros out to save the world from something trying to destroy it..Except this is an Alternate universe of a universe weā€™ve had in the ā€œrealā€ world. But…I think I might be missing a few detailsā€¦

How to be a hero

Iā€™ve been playing for a long time…Iā€™ve been here for many of the changes Blizzard has done but I must say…a baby could now play this game and be amazing at it. I feel like the game has been dumbed down a lot since it first came out. You choose from a list of Talents that you ever every specific level and you go from there. Itā€™s pretty easy to decide what talents you want for your spec for the most part.

The new wave of mechanics

Iā€™m speechless when it comes down to the mechanics of this xpac. Every dungeon or raid before had straight forward mechanics. Dodge this, hit this do this. Nope. That seems to be thrown out the window.  Itā€™s more like ā€œBurn this, charge this mob into this mob oh shit watch out for vomit! AHHH these need more ghosts!ā€ The heck is wrong with these guys? Iā€™m all for new things, but some of the mechanics are just outright stupid, and a bit infuriating.

New items?

The Garrison are one of my favorite features. Itā€™s so much better than the farms back in Panda land. (for those who played back then you all know the pain). Each garrison is unique to itā€™s character and you can do many things from Gardening to professions. Did I mention professions are basically useless now? I didnā€™t? Well they are. Sad to say all the gold and time you use to waste to get to max level Alchemy poof. Thereā€™s a plot for that.

Character models got a nice upgrade. Every thing has been redone to fit the new graphics put in the game. Itā€™s a bit more realistic now, but itā€™s so much more beautiful! With the remake of some common creatures like Wolves and Raptors, it give the game a new outlook from Vanilla up to Cata.

Flying?

I get that we are supposed to enjoy the beauty of the recreated Draenor but we can enjoy it from the air just as much. I donā€™t want to see grass and trunks of trees. I want to feel the breeze in my hair while Iā€™m flying around on a giant dragon. Come oooooon!

Warlords Of Draenor is a nift little expansion filled with lore out the wazoo. If you enjoyed BC lore then you will enjoy WoD. With the changing times, Blizzard has to accomidate to the new players, but I feel like theyā€™re almost forgetting about the people who have been playing the game for years. For the time being, I feel like they could have done a bit more with the expansion like add flying or something super fancy like that. But I remain loyal to the game.

WoD get 8/10 warhammers in the skull. Sometimes you just gotta take a breath and do it. Even if you only hit one button, youā€™re still in a new Era of World of Warcraft.

P.s: Give me flying or give me to the Horde.

Mouse Town

Have you ever wanted to be a mighty mouse with the strength to slay evil reptiles that are trying to eat you? Now you have that chance! Mouse town is a little RPG exploring strategy game available on Android and iOS phones, tablets and other devices. Your goal is to explore the area, gather  heroes and resources  while trying to fend off all sorts of reptiles who are out to get you and your mousey town.

When you first load the game, you will have to go through a simple tutorial. It explains  how to build places, fight and gather what you need. Each time you build something you get the chance to gain more mice which are used to build stores, explore and repair. The more mice you have the more you can do. But each time you use a mouse, it takes awhile for them to come back. I find that if you build a about 12 houses you will be ok in the earlier levels. You can always spend gems, which you are given a few when you start but you can always purchase them, to get better everything, like with most mobile games.

The combat mechanics are unique to the game in the sense you legitimately control who attacks and heals what. It’s a simple swipe motion to guide your little mouse to it’s for to slay him. You can also use power-ups as they are gained or you can use a gem to boost them up. As you fight you level your heroes and better gear becomes available.  I found that most of the gear you have to use gems for…which I find to be a bit silly. But when a game is free you have to think of a way to make it worth your while I guess.  But if you do end up playing for a bit every once in awhile you’re give 1-3 gems whether it’s from leveling or doing specific quests. At the end of every fight, your hero must sleep to renew it’s energy.  It can be a bit annoying especially when you’re trying to explore.

The exploration is very time consuming, and a bit annoying. You can only explore in a certain areas and it makes your town a strange shape and a bit hard to worth with in the start until you’re about level 10, when it’s a nice open area.  When you open a new area, you have to fight a lizard of some sort to open the area to get it’s resources or heroes. When you start out the exploration goes by quickly, but after that it drags on. The fights you had to do to unlock the area now require more than one go, but they’re roughly the same fight. Exploration is beneficial to you as you can unlock heroes for free. Other heroes can be purchased through their store using gems.

The graphics are simple. The mouse seem to be clip art type mice with paper doll like movements. Everything is made out of items you’d throw away or have somewhere in your house. A table made from a thimble and a spool of thread, a tea house  made from a tea pot. All little items a mouse could find useful.

Beside the fact that almost everything neat is only purchased with cash or gems, it’s a game that would be a great way to kill boredom for a few hours. Assuming you like waiting a period off time before you can progress in the game then it’s perfect! I feel like if the game didn’t have as much down time it could really be fun!!! I give this game a 5/10.  Though I do enjoy the game, the fact that I have to wait to do anything makes it slightly annoying. I feel that the  way the levels of exploration were poorly placed and made the area a little difficult to place objects you need to even go on in the game.

Skywind

Iā€™m a big Elder Scrolls fan, Iā€™ve been one since they released their first game. One of my favorite games in the Elder Scroll Series was Morrowind. The one where you are Almalexia and you save the world from the false gods and a vampire hiding in a volcano and all of that fancy hero stuff.

For itā€™s time, it was a beautiful game. The graphics were ā€œrealisticā€ enough for me to get sucked into the game. In my opinion, it was the best game of itā€™s time, and nothing could compare.

That was..until Skyrim was released. This was the most beautiful game in the  Elder Scroll series. The map was pretty as well. But, this isnā€™t about Skyrim. Itā€™s not even about Morrowind. Nope. This is about Skywind.

For those of you who havenā€™t heard of this, Iā€™m kind of surprised. Skywind is a beautiful mix of Skyrim and Morrowind. They recreated Vvanderfell with the Skyrim engine.

With the big graphics update, and the addition of the quest line, Morrowind was reborn.  Skywind is still in a beta phase, so there are a few bugs.

If youā€™re interested in checking it out, there are a few things you should know about Skywind.

There are no voices, tho I donā€™t think this is a big since there really werenā€™t any voices in Morrowind. The text is from Skyrim so itā€™s nice and neat but itā€™s still a little tiresome to read the paragraphs they have,

The NPCā€™s..are well naked. It was a little awkward talking to quest givers while theyā€™re chilling in the nude.  Now if youā€™re all for naked characters then youā€™re in heaven!

If you donā€™t think any of those will bother you, then you should really check it out. I find this to be a fun addon and canā€™t wait for it to complete! Iā€™ll be playing this until the ESO is released then Iā€™ll be playing that!!

I give Skywind a 7/10 Lily points. Though itā€™s beautiful and still in beta there are a few bugs that have made it a little difficult to play and Iā€™ve had to reload an older save to fix it.
