Last Epoch

As a long time follower of the Diablo series, I found myself pleasantly surprised by Last Epoch. From the moment I delved into its world, I was greeted by an experience that seamlessly blended familiarity with innovation. The gameplay is not only enjoyable but also remarkably easy to grasp, making it a breeze to immerse oneself in the adventure. One of the standout features of Last Epoch is its engaging monoliths, each offering a distinct and captivating challenge.

Whether I was soloing or teaming up with friends, the experience remained consistently entertaining, perfect for those moments when I wanted to unwind and listen to a podcast while grinding away. However, no game is without its flaws, and Last Epoch is no exception. One aspect that left me wanting more was the lack of free respecs, which can be a deterrent for players eager to experiment with different builds without facing hefty penalties.

Additionally, while the concept of set gear holds promise, its current implementation falls short of expectations, failing to deliver the depth and excitement that such gear should bring to the table. The restriction on trading items across different maps can feel limiting and frustrating, hindering the potential for player interaction and commerce.

Despite these setbacks, Last Epoch earns a solid 8/10 rating from me. Its enjoyable gameplay, coupled with the unique challenges offered by the monoliths, make it a standout title in the action RPG genre. With some refinement, particularly in addressing the issues with respecs, set gear, and trading, Last Epoch has the potential to elevate itself even further and secure its place as a must-play for fans of the genre.

Resident Evil 3 Remake

This year has most definitely been a year for remakes and rebirths of my childhood. With the hype and my undying love for the remake of Resident Evil 2. I must say this game didn’t fall short scaring the crap out of me and keep my eyes looked to the screen. You never know what’s going to be around that corner.

With Raccoon City in ruins and with some of the best bosses in the Resident Evil series it’s really hard to say anything bad about this game. With the environment being so detailed from flickering lights to ambient sounds, the game really keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Compared to the Resident Evil 2 remake, the combat here is a lot more entertaining. Jill has a new move that’s like a fast side step now so she can dodge some attacks. Jill can also use a few different weapons in the game with upgrades available for you as you progress through the story. You can never go wrong with shot guns though. Just saying.

Nemesis is back…he is strong….and quick….and like holy shit excuse me? For being as BIG as he is he can’t do that…or can he? When he does show up it’s so unexpected. He got me to squeak a few times in fear…this is one of two games that I can never feel completely safe in. The first being Deadspace.

Just like with Resident Evil 2, you are able to play as Carlos. I felt like he was a bit of a hardmode character as it wasn’t as easy to dodge or do other things as him. Sure you can be a bad ass, but if you can’t dodge outta the way…what are you good for ;P I must say, thought I enjoy a challenge…I do find myself playing Jill more than the Merc Carlos.

Keeping true the nature of the rooms and spots in the series, each room has a unique story to tell you. From useful items all the way to secrets there’s always something for you and a good reason for you to explore in the world. Sure, sometimes it can seem very tedious to do some of the tasks, but you are always rewarded for your time. Thankfully there is a map to help you find your way around but be careful….was that dead body here before?

Going into this game with just my memories to help, this game seemed like a torture room before now. Honestly at first I felt like it was going to be the same. I would push in areas where it was difficult to try to get past and with one wrong move, you are dead. Though this can be frustrating, I defiantly recommend taking your time with the puzzles and bosses to the best of your skills. Based on my level of knowledge from the original game, slow and steady survive the Zombie Hoards.

This game is a beautiful challenge. It brings back the amazing memories I have of the original game with adding modern age mechanics into it. It still feels like Resident Evil 3. This is a perfect game if you like to relive the glorious past but also if you fancy a scare.

RE 3 gets a 8/10. This is one of the games that I grew up with so I could be slightly bias. I like to give honest reviews and I honestly feel like this is a game you should pick up and play. The replay value is there. Maybe you missed this room on accident? Time to go back! Jill is EZ mode? Then play as Carlos. Just play until your little zombie loving heart forgets 2020.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE

So hi guys I know its been while, so whats new?? I’ll blog abut it later for you guys heh.

So,this was one of two games that came out on my birthday this year and it was super hard to pick one. Truthfully it came down to the fact I was going to be very busy for awhile and I needed a game I could take with me wherever I went but don’t worry, I’ll play Kakarot here next! With that being said, let’s get this started!!!

I am going to start this off by saying that I love this series of games, and it’s developers. With the announcement of Byleth being in Super Smash, it made me even more excited for this. Now I know what you’re probably thinking. But Lily, I am so tired of Fire Emblem characters being in Super Smash, I want more thing. to that I say “meh….” Whatever though it’s time for the review.

I wasn’t lucky enough to play this game on the Wii U when it came up. I owned one but at the time I wasn’t able to play it. So the chance i get to play it now was a really exciting moment for me. I am a huge fan of Atlus and I have been for several years. So I already knew I was going to like this game. There were several things that really stood out to me.

You are, like in most JRPG, a highschool student out to help your friend find her sister. With her help and the help of interesting ghost type characters that are based on the Fire Emblem series. The game has a real focus on modern day Japan and the rich lore behind the ghosts that help you in battle.

I loved the combat in the game. the different moves you can learn and how some moves are stronger of weaker on certain mobs was a real plus. I really enjoy games that do stuff like this and it made combat more fun. When you exploited a weakness, your partner in fight has a chance to attack on thier own starting a session and taking out the enemy.

Outside of combat, the story line was a little light and fluffy. As you go on through the story line you find out there’s a few styles of quests that you can do with your friends. You will watch them turn into the stars you knew they could be. That’s kind of it. It’s easy to say that this game is mostly about combat. I can’t really complain though, but it would have been nicer to have a little more than fluff in between fights.

All in all, I had a lot of fun playing the game. I liked the extra content they released for the Wii U and that I was able to play it. Though I was sad at the fluff story, it didn’t take me out of the game. I still played it and I still recommend it for anyone who is into Atlus.

I think a nice 8/10 would be great for the game. I really liked it. Want to play it? Check out your nearest game retailer or go to the Switch Website and purchase it.

Pokemon Sword/Shield

So, before I start, I am aware that this game is under a lot of bad rep. Though I do agree with a lot of the fans complaining, they will no have a big part in the review. Even though I believe all reviews are based on personal opinions, like most of my reviews. Please be aware, there are SPOILERS in this review. If you haven’t played and want to, or haven’t beaten it yet just be aware.

The story is alright. Honestly the bad guys (Team Yell) don’t really SEEM like they’re bad. I never felt like they were out to destroy the world. Honestly, it just seemed like they were so into Marnie. Every time I’ve interacted with them as part of the story, they always used phrases like “borrow this” and “I”m just practicing my chant”. Nothing really seemed malicious…You really don’t see who’s really the evil villains until the very end of the game. Even so, were they really evil? I mean yea. Do I think they’re spoiled rotten royal pains in the ass? You betcha!

I honestly think the Wilderness is my favorite part of this game. I really liked it in Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu. I really like that there are some Pokemon that are a little too high level running around. Why do I like this? Because it was fun being chased by a big HUGE Bewear that is screeching at you. Camping is also a lot of fun. Playing with your Pokemon, visiting random people and cooking just makes it feel real. Now, I am a HUGE fan of Cooking Mama, and cooking made me feel like I was playing it.

The reintroduction of Gyms made the game feel like my childhood. They did get changed up a little bit, but to me it’s a welcomed changed. They added some little trials at the start of the gym. Each gym had little puzzles or little strategy testers before you can fight the gym leader. I am a little sad that each gym leader has like 3 Pokemon though. I was sitting here like “I’m sorry what? I’m allowed to have 6 and you have 3? That doesn’t seem very fair to you…” Of course they respond with a full heal and I rage.

Don’t forget to talk to the Poke-ball man for your free fancy ball 😀

So boy, these Dynamax raids and fights are something else. As much as I adore new mechanics I feel like it’s kind of boring compared to what could be in the game, or what shouldn’t be in the game. I do like that you can invite your friends to the raids and how they will fill up the party with random NPC’s to fill it up and give you a chance at catching the pokemon. Something I found kind of strange but I think I understand it, is you can only throw a ball once to attempt to catch it. If you fail it is GONE. But Long Meowth kind of fills the void that Elgeym left in my heart.

To be honest, I rather enjoy this game. I’m glad it came out, though I am very sad that there’s not all of the Pokemon in it and I can’t really relive my childhood on this game, it doesn’t make it inherently bad. Recently, Pokemon games have been kind of a hit or miss for me. Either it’s an amazing game and I love it or it’s just a pokemon game.

With that being said, I enjoyed the game, I sat and played for hours when it launched. I laughed a few times and after I got through the gyms the story got kind of stupid..

Sword and Shield is going to get a 8/10. Though I really enjoyed it, it’s not really hitting the real nostalgia mark. I might just be getting to the point in my age where the new forms of X Pokemon are just stupid or what but I still liked the game enough to sit down for literally hours farming Pokemon and progressing through the story.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

So, this review is a week or so late, sorry about that. I’ve been going though some  things and it’s caused me to fall behind on quite a few things. Since I am feeling better, now is the best time as any to get this review out and ready for you guys!

So, let’s get down to it and I’m going to start with the controls. I couldn’t get the hang on using the Joy Cons…I think it’s because of my fat hands, but I just couldn’t get it. Thankfully, I have my old gamecube controllers and it made it easier for me, minus the fact I had to relearn all of my characters since they redid some of the move sets. For the most part, I got the hang of the controls rather quickly, and could transfer the set from character to character.

So the story line, I think from that I grabbed besides the “Hey these guys took your souls and now they’re evil and you have to defeat them to get them into your party so You can actually fight them and all of that stuff” Then you add, Darkness and light work together or they don’t? I have no idea. I just kind of went with the flow.

The fights in the campaign mode can be super difficult. I found myself getting pretty flustered so, I’d take a break to just play against NPC’s and I had like 5 people to pick from. So back to the campaign I suppose.

Now, I know. you can unlock the characters by playing against NPC’s but I kind of missed having a rather big selection at the start. So it might be petty, I’m aware. But the selection, the game varitey and everything, made the hard work worth it. Between working, and trying to get my 2019 plan working, it took a few days (or hours I do believe)

So let’s talk spirits. They’re pretty nifty. There are so many of them, each unique. At first, it’s hard to decide what’s the best, and what’s the worst. But soon you learn what the combos are, what spirit goes with this one ect ect. The possibilities are almost endless, and once you get it down, it’s pretty dope. I loved seeing what worked best for me and what didn’t.

The new trophy system is rather neat. It’s a little puzzle board that you can either unlock with certain items you get on special missions, or you do what it says you need to do to unlock them. Though the pictures really don’t go together, they make a really neat collage. So don’t worry if your puzzle looks funky. So does mine :3

All in all, it was a rough start for me, and that’s fine. I didn’t expect me to be the best around with not playing a smash game since the Wii U. So it’s been a few years. I also felt spoiled by having access to 10+ characters at launch and not having to work for them. I don’t have a lot negative to say about this game that isn’t how I feel.

I know that’s how this kind of website works, this is all how I feel about games, but besides being spoiled with fat hands, this game is great. The amount of time it takes to actually unlock everything, and everyone is fairly reasonable for someone like me that works a full time job.

Super Smash Bros Ulitmate I think deserved a 8/10 trophies. I really enjoyed the game, and i like to feel like a child again. It’s fantastic and I do recommend this to everyone.

Black Clover: Quartet Knights

This is one my my underdog animes. It took me a few episodes to get into this, just my My Hero. So when I heard this game was coming out, I couldn’t help but get excited. It’s been awhile since I’ve played an Anime based game or a Japanese fighting game so I was super stoked when I got a hold of a copy.  I couldn’t wait to pop this bad boy in my PS4 and sit on the couch and play it!

So after I waited a long ass time for the game to install, and beat several dungeons on WoW in the mean time, I was excited to hit the X button (I think? Idk man controllers confuse me) and watched the credits roll and then BAM intro movie started. I was sitting on the edge of my couch right now, holding that controller watching in awe as an Anime I love came to life where I controlled what happened!

This game literally throw you into combat right as you start the game. You get a well made animation did some explaining with the story before it throws you back into a fight with Mars, and from there you fight a lot of familiar faces from the Anime like Vetto, Fana and Licht!

Each character has their own magic style like in the show and manga but to be it differed a lot from them as well. Now, yes I understand there are limitations with a controller and even a keyboard and that the wide range of spells everyone knows from the show/manga can’t be condensed into several buttons and such.. This isn’t what I’m getting at. What I am trying to say, is I noticed when I was fighting Vetto, it didn’t FEEL like the beast magic. I didn’t FEEL like he was the rhino or whatever animal that freaky dude becomes.

The same went for a lot of the other people, Asta has a few new moves that almost seem magical and Yami….for the sake of him not trying to kill me. Yami is the best IMO. He feels like what a Captain should be. I haven’t had the chance to play with many other characters but when I do, I wil revise this review. I also haven’t played online at all because I don’t have the extra funds to pay for online time. IMO waste of money, but we’ll talk about that sometime maybe.

So let’s get into the story. I had an interesting time trying to figure out when this was in the time line. But, this seems to be taking place with the anime in a sense but could also be an alternate timeline? Did they learn from Blizzard?! I hope not…at least when you play BC, it feels like your’e actually part of the story and you have to save Clover Kingdom from all of the bad stuff, but I also feel like they kind of just threw Mars in, and extra characters for the sake of having them. I’m not saying this is a terrible idea, I rather like that you learn a little bit more on the lore of the game. After all, I am the Loremaster and my learning never ceases no matter what I am playing.

I like the storyline, a lot. Like more than I thought I was going to as Blizzard left a weird taste in my mouth after WoD and Alternate time lines and yeah….But I like it. I like the new characters they added and I liked how everyone was involved someway or another and it just made it worth it IMO!

So, let’s talk about the combat. As someone that has not played on console in a long time, it was hard for me to get back in the grove of not having a mouse and keyboard to move fight ect. What made it worse is it was a PlayStation contoler, and I will be honest, besides the mouse and keyboard, I am use to the xbox controller. So I feel like I was at a disadvantage, heh. But once I sat down and got used to everything, combat was a lot easier. It took awhile for me to keep my thumb on the camera stick so at first, I couldn’t ever keep an eye on my enemies and it would cause me to almost lose! Now that’s not good for a Knight!

Boiling it down, you have a basic of 4 attacks using all of the differnet triggers then one special one that is triangle? I think that’s the shape.  Anyways, the biggest struggle for me was the use of the camera angle. Now call me Old Fashion but I dislike the full control of the Camera and to me, it causes problems. Now, thought I dislike this, I still very much enjoy the game. Again, once I got used to the controls, the game is so much fun (hell even when I didn’t get them down I was still having fun)

The last thing I wanted to talk about was the graphics. I mentioned above, I was greeted by an amazing cut scene that looked like it was straight from the anime. On top of that, it had amazing graphics both the pre combat and during combat scenes.  I was a little iffy on this style honestly, there are a few games that use it and I feltit took away from the game and what it was but honestly, I really want to say that it matched it perfectly and I loved it!

Though I had a rough start with the game  i love it! The amount of characters you can chose from and the storyline really make you feel like you’re part of the game!  This totally gets 8/10 sheep!  (I love Charmy js)

Skyrim Special Edition

This is going to be a short and sweet review.

Literally, It’s Skyrim but prettier. Now, I got it for free since I had it on PC, and my thoughts are the same.

It’s Skyrim, with the DLC and prettier. I really don’t feel the need to say more than that. I mean the story line is the same. The game play is the same. The glitches are the same. It’s Skyrim.

I’m aware there are a lot of people who are very pissed off about this, but I have to ask. What did you expect? They never promised it would be a new game. They never said they were ADDING anything. Just it was prettier. SO everyone giving this game a bad review can suck it.

I still and always will give this game 8/10. Some of the bugs make it unplayable/completable but that’s fine! It’s a great remastering of a great series and I just can’t get enough of it!!

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI

So many games have come out, and here I am having to re write three because the website lose them T.T So I am so sorry for this late review! Forgive me guys please!!!

There’s quite a few on my list now from GoW4 to Legion and a few others! I can’t wait to get this started so I won’t wait anymore!!!!

This review is for Civ 6, which I must say is a great addition to the Sid Meier collection. Now I must say, I’m a great lover of the RTS and have been a HUGE fan of Civ for quite a long time and the hype I had for this one was just through the roof, and personally I wasn’t disappointed!!!

So with that, let’s get this review started!!!!

It is with a heavy heart, I have to admit that they changed up some of the countries a little bit, and swapped out some leaders. I miss Catherine for Mother Russia but, to be fair, Peter isn’t too bad and I think I can be OK with this. There are a few countries, though now with different people, stay the same. The major one I would like to note, is India. I think we all know the horror stories of India, But, for those who don’t…I hope you’re sitting for this.

Gandhi is still a dick.

The game has a different feel to me. Though it’s nice to be on my own and not have to worry about the science of my comrades, I still miss them. The fact that we can only be friends and not allies for awhile is just something that’s new to me.  But I do want to say that it felt nice to be independent and only rely on myself to advance my country, until Gandhi comes around then well, it’s nice to have friends.

So, besides all of this glorious country raising, there are a few other things to keep in mind. All country AI’s have a secret agenda. This can make or break your friendship with them and may even spark a war. One country may not like your hairstyle while the other one things. This adds a sense of wonder into the game until Damn it Gandhi! Stop it! Just stop.

With the secret agenda, you can literally meet them or complete miss them. But they hold whether the country is in awe with you, or if they despise the living crap out of you and declare war on you and try to kill you off and all of that fun AI stuff. But a word of advice…

Don’t open borders with a country. It may seem like a great idea to let your friend pass through your country in hopes of slaughtering your foes. Just don’t. They can use the generic and walk around your boarder. They always end up in a sweet beautiful betrayal. But really, folks. The AI in this game seem to be more self aware, it’s almost like Skynet. It’s creepy. They beg, they plead, the can even grovel when you start to whoop their butt. Hue hue.

All in all this game was so much fun, I enjoyed being alone while playing with my friends where i always had the option to betray them and take over their country, as well as reluctantly giving them open borders to they can help you in the war. I mean, I trust them….. A little or something.

Civ 6 is one of my favorite games of 2016 and I can’t wait until the next one but until then, I will play this one with my friends and take out any AI I possibly can and I couldn’t be happier!!!

I totally give this game a 8/10 barbarians! This is such a great game! The AI are a lot more nicer to agree with (Except Gandhi of course)

Edit: So I want you all to know, that I’ve had this written and posted for quite awhile now and my website decided it didn’t want to post it. So I apologize for the delay and there are many MANY more reviews to come after this one so, again. I apologize and I love you all!!!

The Forest

I don’t know about you. But the words Cannibal and Forest intrigue me. Now this may be because I am a huge fan of The Hills Have Eyes. Or any sort of horror film that involves anything like this….I think? I think it’s more, this is an idea I can get behind and support. So, with that being said. Let’s get started!

You start off in a neat little crash scene where some big guy steals your kid. Most parents would try to save them, you just kinda pass out. Some father….Anywho, once you wake up your “to do” list says that you need to build shelter, find food and water ect ect. Basic survival things. But then it says to find passengers, and Timmy. What have they done for you? I dunno but eh.

Build build build a fort, and eat all the legs!

Building is time consuming, but it’s so much fun because ti adds to the difficulty in my opionon. The more you clear cut the forest, the more upset the cannibals get and they more they want to getcha! The trick is to build a Log sled. I know it seems like such a silly thing but they can carry like 9 logs! And when a simple log cabin requires like 13? You do the math. 😉

Once you get your base set up, next would be to focus on food and water. Hopefully you’re not far from a lake or a turtle (Sorry PETA) or legs and arms will be on the menu for you. If you don’t mind losing your sanity, then this is a gret rout to go. Not only will you have a steady food supply you can also get bones from the limbs you chow down on and you can use them to build things. I’m currently working on build a bone fence around my Cannibal Witch house. But that is just me 🙂

Now, let’s get down to these Cannibals. These are what make the game on edge and exciting. There are about 5 different types of cannibals each more deadly than the last. You have the skinny ones, that are some what harmless. They don’t do a lot of damage solo, but in a big group, watch out. Virgina and Cowman though, are dangerous no matter how you look ta it.  The trick is to Dodge. Oh….wait THEY dodge. Silly Lily!!

But let’s get down to business right now. You can’t defeat all the cannibals and mutants with your silly little axe you get from the dead flight attendant.  You have the Bow and arrows, stone axes, and you can steal the maces off some of the cannibals. It’s really up to you. Do you survive or conform?! I tried to conform but then my friends started to give me sacrifices of human flesh so I could spare them and then it just got funky!

Any who…it’s always better to just survive and explore when you feel it’s right! I mean you can’t just stay in your safe little fort with endless food, when there’s a WHOLE island to explore! WHAT?! A entire Island inhabited with cannibals and mutants and Cannibal Witches (Me. I’m referring to me).

The true end goal, is to find the passengers and your son. Or, you know you can just kinda do whatever you want. Survive, Thrive, Die. Whatever floats your boat! DO IT! JUST DO IT!

Long story short, this is a great survival horror game, and I like it. It’s fun to play with friends, but at the same time it’s fun alone! I give this game a 8/10. Thought it is sill in Alpha, it’s still so much fun! I cannot wait to see the final prodcut and I will be keeping this under watch 😉

Overwatch

Before I wanted to do this review, I wanted to actually sit and play this game for awhile to get a real taste of the release, before patches are made. This is about a week late. We had a lot going on…My chinchilla got hurt and we had to take care of him for awhile but everything is better now! So, let’s get started!!!

Overwatch. A game that’s had a lot of Hype as well as a lot of controversy.  For those who are unaware, Overwatch is a FPS release by Blizzard entertainment. You have 21 heroes you can pick from and 12 randomly picks maps with 4 different play styles, minus the practice ring. I will say, that I am not a big FPS fan, but I fell in love with this game. I like all the aspects so far, but I’m nervous about the patch notes. I’ve been a blizzard fan for awhile, but some of their patches…:/ But that’s for another time 🙂 Like Legion.

21 Hero Street

21 unique heroes, from numerous countries,  that bring a unique feel to the game. You can’t go wrong with any of them, unless you choose Bastion (Or like 4 of them on one team…yeah screw you). There are several Heroes right now that are OP, but there are several that take some skill to play. Each character has an attack, and alt attack and finally an Ult attack. Unless you’re a healer then you have a Heal, ect ect ect….Mercy (Heroes should die when it’s the opposite team). You have about five different “kinds” of Heroes. Offense (high Damage), Tank, Defense(Low Damage), Support, Bastion.  Lily, what do you have against Bastion? You’ve never played the game if you don’t know…

Any who, the different ranks, really make the game. The Offense and Defense pretty much self explain themselves. You have Heroes who just BLAST away their enemies, with out a Tracer…then you have the heroes that aren’t meant to do a lot of damage but can still hurt, the Dragon eats all enemies. Tanks are almost a must for certain types of games, and My go to right now, if Reinhardt. It’s almost hard to mess up Reinhardt…..yeah that’s probably a lie but eh….He wants to Arm Wrestle soon!

My oh My Maps!

There are 12 maps, three assigned to different types. Escort (ugh), Assault (Whoot!), Assault/Escort (F’n really?!), Control (AWE YEAH). You travel around the world for every map, where you’re then asked to summon your team and do whatever the objective is. Whether you escort a slow truck through Hollywood, or you defend a Meiji style castle from your foes, and bring honor back to your family. I’ve played every map so many times, I’m yearned for more. I can only set up turrets on this one ledge so many times before I just can’t take it anymore. Let’s go over the different map types super fast.

Assault: For those who don’t make a while Bastion Team, this is a map where you and your team either defend or attack certain points across the map. Who ever has the most points win the game.

Escort: Do I really need to go over this? You know, you follow this thing around and protect it.

Assault/escort: Literally combine the other two maps.  Defend a point, then escort something then DEFEAT!

Control: My favorite map type so far! You control points, contest them and VICTORY!

I hope they add more maps, and more game typed.

To game or not to game? That is the Bastion.

My beef with Bastion. I’m going to lay this out for you, but I wanted to talk about the game a little. Bastion is a very OP character, and it seems to be a “noob” character in my opinions. I say this because Bastion has three forms, I call them Mobile assault, Turret and Tank. Screw every single one of these. I only play him when we’re in dire need of a big push but I tend to stick to other characters.

My Overview

I love this game. I didn’t think I was going to, but it was an awesome surprise when I installed the game and loaded it. I may lose a lot, but that doesn’t turn me away at all. It just means I get to play again. This game has its ups and downs.  Your team and Teamwork will literally make or break the game, or being cheap.  Meh, Bastion.

I give this game a 8/10. Once the first patch comes out, I will edit this review and post another one. I’m interested to see what’s going to happen next patch.
