7 Days to die, or as I’m going to call it “7 Days to die then respawn run back to your group then die again”. this Minecraft Apocalypse wanna be has got to be the most headache inducing game of all time.

 

I am all for the surviving death, disease and all of that. I find those games to be the most fun so My friends and I thought we would try this game out. I must say, this is something that I wasn’t expecting….and at the end of the time playing it, I made some tea and hit my head against my desk.

 

Let’s start off with what happens. You are thrown into some random location where you have to collect anything you can find to help build things and items while you dodge a lot of zombies to make sure you can live to make it to either your friends or a safe spot. Now, a lot of zombies is an understatement…a HUGE one mind you. In one area I came across 20+ zombies who all magically knew where I was and where I was going and I swear they were like rabbits…They kept multiplying.

 

It’s literally a “let’s see how many seconds I can live before I die” type of game, and if you watched my stream you say how many times I died so close together (and if you were watching I apologize for my words…It was super frustrating..)

 

The graphics themselves are decent, more like early 2000 graphics. YOu can easily identify what’s what and who is who but they’re still not clear or flowing. But this game is still in an early release so I’m hoping something will happen. Now the graphics aren’t detrimental to the game play though. But it reminded me a lot of Beast of Prey.

 

So now I’m sure you’re like “You said Minecraft but I don’t read minecraft!” I”m getting there! Gosh….

 

With  the resources you collect you can build things, like walls sleeping bags ect. The way you place things is very minecraft esk and like Beasts of Prey, the envrionment really makes or breaks stuff. I LOVE when my frames go through the ground and then everything looks off center. That’s always great!

 

The amount of difficulty in this game made it a real headache. We actually had a difficult time getting start and staying together. There were several times we had to pause and regather ourselves before going on.

 

I’m giving this game a 7/10 Cinderblocks. I liked the game for the most part. I didn’t enjoy having to walk to my friends only to get killed again. The zombie population in this game is too damn high. But since this game is in early access I will be watching it closely and will definitely keep you all posted on the game!

Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2

I know what you guys are probably thinking. UnicornMuffin, why are you doing this game? It’s not scary. Not at all. You’re right. It’s not. But it is a spooky scary theme. What’s scarier than Zombies? Nazi Zombies. But this is one of my favorite sequel type games to a fun FPS Stand alone game.

You are a member of an elite group of group of fancy snipers who were sent out during WW2. Close to the end of the war, Hitler decided to unleash his final weapon. Zombies. Only you, with the guns and others, can defeat this army. Or so the story says. I played with my friends because I really don’t trust NPC’s in games like this. Sometimes they go out of their way to ruin your chance at winning. It’s like “Hey I”m going to stand over here in this bush and do something”. Ugh. I mean sometimes playing with people have the same response but at least you can unfriend these people.

When you wake up, your find yourself in Hell. Well I’m assuming it’s hell. It’s full of Zombies and fire. You think you’re safe, but no. You are never safe. You are sent through mazes and buildings and tanks and everything else you can think Zombies can throw at you. Except limbs. They don’t throw those at you.  I wish, you know how cool that would be? “Braiiiin….oh who am I kidding? ARMS AWAY!” Unlike a lot of zombie games, these little shits sneak up on you when you least expect it. Pile of Bones? ZOMBIES! Huge tree? ZOMBIES! Eyes tired? ZOMBIES. Yeah…be prepared for Zombies, everywhere you can think of.

Did I mention heads exploding? I don’t think I did. Well they do. Organs burst out from the abdomen, heads bursting with brains! What’s not to love? Unless you don’t like gore…and if you don’t like gore, why do you want to play a ZOMBIE SHOOTER? I guess the world may never know or something.  I’m a big fan of when you shoot someone you want to see the blood guts and gore. Nothing like a rolling head in the morning, am I right? I am right.

Anyways, The controls are typical of a PC FPS. WSAD and click to fire. I found that you have to watch where you step. I would go to tun away from Zombies only to get caught on something silly and almost die while my mates went on with out me. My undying gratitude to these guys. The scope system is super nice but sometimes it was a little cheating. I didn’t notice the scope waving around like you , well…you were a zombie. I enjoy the more realistic scopes but sometimes during times like this easier scopes make it nice. I mean you are an Elite Sniper.

With everything becoming more about the Zombie Apocalypse, can you really afford not to start training now as a elite Sniper? I sure hope you can’t! There are so many vital bits of information regarding the zombies, Hitler and the world war itself. A lot of the game is realistic. I say that because the anatomy of your enemies  is very accurate to that of an actual living human being.

 

I liked this game, graphics and all. I enjoyed relying on my  (ex)friends for help and killing in the zombies. I give this game 7/10 brains. It’s a nice gam ebut some of the tiny bugs like getting caught and stuff caused me to die a few times. That wasn’t too much fun, but I wish I became a Zombie and so I could take over the world with my brainless allies and then…Well..that’s for an other time.

Five Nights at Freddy’s

In the spirit of October, This month’s reviews will all be spooky scary games! This game is definitely one of those games! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being scared but this is insane o.o

 

Let’s start off by the story. You are a security guard working the late night shift at a Chucky Cheese Knock off. The pay is good and all you have to do it watch the cameras, and live until 6 am. Wait a minute…Live? Um…I’m sorry but I didn’t think I would have to worry about my life at a kids party place…. Every day you receive a recorded message from the person before you. He tells you that the animatronic animals that entertain children during the day, are out to kill you at night. This sounds like a Horror Movie…Like NIGHT OF THE LIVING ROBOTS!!!!! Well, you have one one way of protecting yourself. Shut the doors. Oh, so hard I know. But you have a limited source of energy to work with and everything you do besides moving your head uses the precious energy.

 

The first night is super slow, and you don’t have a lot to worry about except Mr. Psycho Bunny out to stuff you in a suit. Eep! You watch the camera’s and see where they are moving. But remember, everything you do uses energy. Ideally, I would want to keep all of the doors shut but you run out of Energy so quickly…and when you do run out…Oh boy. To your right, you see eyes light up and a happy song play as the eyes blink, once the eyes are done being scary you can either pray the clock turns to 6am or accept the fact you’re about to be stuffed into a roboy skin.

 

As you progress through the levels, the robots get quicker and more intelligent. It’s almost like they know your every move. I must admit, my favorite part of the Pirate Cove’s very own Foxy. The fact that she is so creepy, she is also the only robot that you know for sure what direction they’re going and you have a short time to respond. And let’s sure hope you respond fast…Now, let’s say you fail to react fast. This is when the scary part happens. If you fail to catch them they will get you. They will scream and they will act like inflatable flailing arm tube man.

 

Once you last past the 5th night, a special 6th night appears. DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNN!!!! This version of the typical nights, you will get no calls and everything goes down right away. The AI are quicker and more deadly…Never thought I could be so scared of a video game. I don’t think I every jumped higher in my life!!! If you manage to get past the mysterious and deadly 7th night you unlock a special night where you can set the intelligence level. The higher you make it, the faster the AI come to get you and the less time you have to react.

 

Everything is a click base style, the flip the light on and to shut the door you hit the button.  You flip through cameras by clicking on them and monitor your fuzzy metal friends. The graphics are something that made this game stand out to me. It’s creepy as hell. When you see the guys staring at the camera with their mouth ajar with those cartoonish teeth, I about crap myself. It’s almost like they peer into your soul….and will slowly drive you insane and can actually through you off your game and possibly get you killed.

 

If you happen to enjoy getting scared, I recommend giving this game a try. It starts off super slow but it really picks up as the nights go on. It’s literally harder and harder to survive later in the game. I suggest playing this game in the dark with headphones. There are a lot of noises you can miss that can make or kill you.  Now, don’t be afriad of the dark and as long as you stay when the place is open you’ll be ok.

 

I give this game a wicked 9/10.

Beast of Prey

I apologize for this review being late! A lot has been going on, like losing my jobs….Yeah that’s not TOO fun but it’s ok! Something will happen =D It always does! So here goes nothing!

 

If you have a spot in your heart for MineCraft that you should clear a spot for Beasts  of Prey.  This Survival Dinosaur game found it’s way into my list of games to play. This may still be in a Beta form, but I must say…it was worth it for the most part.

Your goal is to survive…that’s it. Kill dinosaurs, other players, build weapons and survive. The game is very much like minecraft, except it’s not blocky. You start off as a bald man, and as far as I can figuure out, you can’t change that. So you’re forever a bald man, not that I’m complaining. You gather resources to build areas to make a living while fending off herds of dinosaurs and other scavenger people…The community itself isn’t a very nice one. I say this  because we tried setting up a private game and we had people enter the game and literally STEAL everything we had. Items that we have worked for 10+ hours for. Not that I’m complaining but that was a HUGE kick bellow the belt to us.  I hope they add a lock or something later on.

 

Gathering items is super easy in the game.  If you’re lucky to find a forest that you can grow in then you have it made for wood! Each tree respawns it’s bounty in about 4 minutes. I  did find it hard to get Ores and rocks. Those were a bit more tricky.  For the longest time, nothing would spawn and we eventually ran out of ore/stone to use. That wasn’t very fun! Luckily after a quick refresh we were okay and back on track!

 

Now the controls and game play are very similar to Minecraft, (I know I”m making a lot of comparisons! ) With that it’s WSAD and you use your mouse to guide the camera. Every once in a while you will catch yourself getting trapped in a ore node or even better, a dinosaur spazzing out after you hit it. Honestly, it’s that sort of thing that makes me really love this game! Minus the stealing community, I have nothing to complain about with this game. Everything  is pretty much straight forward and easy to do.

 

All n all, this game to me is worth the beta access through purchase. If you can find people to play with that wont steal your items and or your places then the MMO is very fun and exciting. It’s nothing like food teamwork that makes this game even more fun.  If you can’t find those people then you can always put a Baby triceratops in your area, You make that mistake ones. I thought it would be cute to have a baby one in my camp…he game me a headache. Non stop “RAWR RAWR RAWR” o.o ugh.

I give this game a 6/10. The fact that a “private” server isn’t private is a real killer for me. I love everything else about this game. This is defiantly one game that I will revisit once it’s released, but for now it’s going to be a 6/10.

Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper

I have always been a fan of this series. From Dynasty Warriors to now, this game has always been in my top 10. Once more, I am very pleased with it.

 

(Slight spoilers ahead!)

As the game starts out, you are fighting a giant hydra that has appeared. As you play through, you find the game slowly growing more difficult until you are told retreat…and the Hydra wins. As you retreat, you are confronted by a spirit who drags you into this world and tells you she can help you defeat the hydra, and basically gives you a redo. Depending on how you play, you can defeat the hydra or let History replay itself.

 

The actual story line as you play is heartwarming as well and exciting. You get to see what each person was doing before the Hydra came forth and set out to destroy the entire world. You help them gather points as well as Allies.  Each character had their own set of allies you can play as well as specific talents each hold. I like making custom teams and building those up. I’ve never been one to enjoy pre-made teams!

 

The controls, like with their other games, are easy when you get the hang on them. I found myself hitting the wrong buttons or using moves accidently due to them being close together. I’ve accidently swapped characters during a fight and it almost cost my that battle. I wasn’t very happy with that. I feel like if i had used the Wii U’s touch pad I would have done a lot better then using the actual controller. But I’ve stuck with the controller. I also found that using the Wand to be more of a pain than in the butt than convenience as I do have nerve problems and after awhile controllers hurt.

 

I really enjoyed this game! There were some points of it where it was difficult but the key point it had always remained fun for me.  I give this game a 6/10. Though I really enjoyed the game, Some parts were a little bugged or just kinda silly. There were just some points where I lost interest a little bit but I always managed to get back into it.

Pokemon Rumble U

After finally having enough to get a Wii U one of the first games I got to play was Pokemon Rumble. This game is a very fun platform game where you play as little toy Pokemon and you became lost when the person who was putting you out fell. You now have to find your way back to the toy store so you can be purchased and loves by the children who buy you.

 

You start off with the started Pokemon from Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, since this game was released in August of last year and X and Y hadn’t been released. As you play through the stages you “befriend” more Pokemon that you can use to clear stages.

In the beginning you use the controllers but as the stages become more difficult, you get to use the touch pad to use a huge AoE. They’re fairly simple controls as well. If you have a WiiMote, you have to hold it on your side and use 1 and 2 to attack and the arrows to move around.The regular controller is the basic A and B keys and the joystick to move.

 

The graphics are very colorful and adorable. They did a great job matching the background and the challenge titles together. There are a few games that don’t so this was a nice touch for me. The characters themselves were very chibi like. They had the large head and the little body, and even included their original sounds from the actual game.

 

The storyline itself is a little cliche and boring in some points. Zekrom seems to be the main bad guy in this game. After defeating every stage he appears and talks some depressing chitchats and then it’s off to the next level.

All in all this game is super fun when you play with friends but it’s just as fun to play alone.  Not only is it very involving it’s a great time killer. Depending on the power of your Pokemon the stages can last seconds to minutes.

 

This game is just super fun and it’s something you should check out!! Now sadly, this game is not free. It’s $17.99 USD and can be purchased from the Nintendo Store. It is also available for the 3DS.

I give this game a 9/10. I really enjoyed the game, but I wish there was a way to combine Pokemon to increase their powers.  That is about the only negative thing I have about this game but it doesn’t really affect the game play much.

Titanfall: Beta

I have been waiting for this game for awhile now and I had the chance to play in the Beta! Now, you may be asking “Why are you talking about a Beta? What happened to the NDA?”  Well, the creators have no issued a NDA, they want people to stream, talk about and just enjoy the game! Everyone should be able to enjoy this game. This is what I plan on doing! So here we go!

If you have not had the chance to hear about this game, then you may be in for a wonderful treat! This is the perfect mix of some pretty awesome games from Call of Duty to Halo. You are in charge of a Titanfall, a giant Mecha with awesome guns and cool powers! The Titanfall has this telekinesis power you can use to stop rockets being launched at you and what not.

When not in a Titanfall, you are a pilot with a pistol that auto-locks on your targets, yes multiple targets. With one pull of your trigger, your pistol can take down multiple enemy or just a single enemy hitting all of their vital parts.

The tutorial goes into vast details about your weapons, Titanfall and how to use everything to it’s potential. I really felt like I was being trained to go on a real life mission.

 

Lastly, the PvP seemed very fair, and very realistic. There were some people who seemed to be cheating but that did not ruin my game at all! It was very enjoyable. When it comes to the realistic points, if you were to come into contact with a Titanfall and it was to step on you, well you’re kind of dead.

 

This game was very well planned out and the people who made it showed a very obviously they wanted to make a great game!

This review is slightly vague, I know, but I want you to play this game! I want you to experience everything about this game!

Natural Selection 2

This game has to be one of my favorite games from 2012.  It is the perfect mix of animal like aliens and well formed groups of Marines. At first, I was a little skeptic as I am an avid Halo Fan and have always felt that games with Marines and Aliens were all knock offs. However, after taking the time to play, this game is in a league of it’s own!

 

There is only one major complaint I have about this game, you sit on the loading screen for awhile, but once you are past that you get put in a room where you get to choose who you want to play as. Aliens or Humans! I played as both so here’s a basic break down.

 

If you choose to play as Aliens, you spawn in a room that looks like some sort of Fungus took over. It reminded me of the Zerg caps in Starcraft. As you play more and get more points you can evolve into more powerful aliens. Your goal is to destroy the human basecamp and stay alive.  You have the option to climb walls as well as air vents!

 

Now, if you decide to play Humans you have an all new set of skills and upgrades available to you. You have the option of having an commander, that is like BattleField 4 where one person can see the whole map and gives directions and helps out their team to successfully guard their base from the evil aliens! You can use the points you get to but better weapons and other items used to repair damaged equipment.

 

The game in itself is very nice looking. Each area is very unique in its own way. A perfect example is when you start off as an Alien. As you wander further away from your spawn point, the fungus slowly vanishes and you’re back at the human military base. Everything and everyone in the game is very detailed, down to the rotten teeth inside the Alien’s mouth! I could almost smell the decay when I was an Alien.

 

The game play in itself was very easy to master quickly. One problem I had was, if you played Human you upgraded a lot faster than the aliens and the game play became very uneven very quickly. In the 12 bites it would take an alien to down a human, it would take one bullet after a few upgrades. It seems to be a very one sided game.

 

The community for this game is also very uptight. The game that I was in, my team commander was very demanding and got very upset easily. It almost made it unpleasant. It seemed that the Alien side of the group was more well mannered, and I wish I could have been one.

 

All in all, I really enjoyed playing this game even though I spent a majority of the time sitting on a loading screen staring at the map I was going to be on.  I give this game a 6/10. Paying $24.99 USD to sit  on the same screen forever, no matter the beauty and funa game has, is never fun for anyone.

Orcs Must Die 2

If you really enjoy games like Dungeon Defender and Tower Defense you will enjoy this game!

I will admit to you guys though that I have not played the first game, so I can’t compare the two, but I will be playing the first one sometime this week. I will review the first game and then make another post comparing the two, if there were significant differences!

 

From what I gathered, you play as a battle mage that fought the hordes of Orcs before and prevented them from entering rifts! You find out that the Orc’s Queen (who is playable as well) lost her seat of power and now is there to help you keep the Orcs from the portals.

 

The gameplay is very simple and easy. Both the Battle Mage and the Former Queen have unique abilities and items they can use. I played as the Queen. She had this nify door that when an Orc or Orcs got close it would slam them into the wall or just back. The battle Mage had this Dart wall they could put up.

 

The controls were simples. WSAD to move and mouse and numbers (or clicking if you don’t use a Gaming mouse ) to attack. You hold shift to run ect ect. The norm for most games.

 

Upgrading cost skulls. You get skulls by completing a level successfully. The amount of skulls that you get depend on how hard the level was as well as how well YOU did personally. I find that system to be fair. I don’t think you should be rewarded well if you don’t do a good job. But the skulls aren’t just based on you. If you are playing with another person, they help the skull count as well.

 

Skulls are used to Upgrade armor, weapons and traps.  Upgrading will make handling the hordes of Orcs, Trolls and Yeti’s way more manageable. You can only do so much on your character.

 

The game itself is very simple and easy to use! It takes about one click to do anything from starting a new game and inviting people to play with you! I like not having to search on how to invite people and end up getting frustrated because it doesn’t work or the game doesn’t allow others to join for some odd reason.

 

The graphics are pretty good! They were a bit Cartoonish, but I didn’t mind. I normally like Realish graphic types but I was ok with these. They were neat and well done! The Orcs were unique in their own way. When I think of Orcs, I kind of go back to WoW and picture those Orcs. These Orcs went from Buff to skinny little nothings. It was pretty awesome. They also added Yeti and Trolls to the mix, and they were unique as well! I really liked the characters and the NPCs. Good job guys!!!!

 

I didn’t have many problems with the game. It took my friend and I a few minutes to figure out how the traps worked, where they should be placed and how to do basic movement ect.  I reccomend this game to anyone who is new to gaming in general. It really relies on the most basic controls for  most PC games.

 

I really enjoyed this game! If you want to play, I will post the link below! It is currently $14.99 on the Steam store.  I give this game a 7/10. It was enjoyable but sometimes it got too hard. When you don’t upgrade your traps it makes it harder on you when the Orcs attack. And sometimes you just don’t get enough skulls to do anything.  I ran into that problem a lot. I had to focus on certain traps or we just didn’t do well.

If you really liked the Left 4 Dead* games then you will enjoy Contagion! This game was well put together and thought out by it’s creators. There are some elements that don’t make a lot of sense but you have that with a few games. I really enjoyed playing this game with my friends, and a few strangers.

When you start the game, you get the option to play on line with others or to start a new game for yourself. No matter what option you chose, you can pick between a few different characters, there were about 6 I believe. Each characters adds a new element to the story and made it easier to play with others. I was very fond of this one female character who was  a Biologic Engineer. She added some cool Technology to the game!

When you play with other people, that seems to be the most fun. You get to play Versus. Versus seems to be a Free for All. You can choose to work with other players or murder them and make sure you are the last survivor. But watch out, if you decide to betray your comrades, they come back as Zombies that are out to kill you! I got to play as both, and I must say, being a Zombie was pretty fun! I think I had more fun being a Zombie than I did a Survivor. I did miss shooting guns and such, but come on….You can seek revenge on the person that killed you and make them one of us! ONE OF US!

The guns are pretty accurate. I got to play with a few different guns starting with the basic hand gun. I also got to play with a Sniper Rifle and a Uzi. All three of these guns were accurate with both the sound and the point and shoot aspect of each individual gun.  The only problem I had was, you can’t reload when there are Zombie Around, so if you run out of Ammo and there’s a zombie just walking around, uh oh. Better hope he doesn’t find you!

All around, the graphics were really nice. Some of the animations are kinda eh, like when you’re a zombie and you run…that’s kind of weird. But Other then that I really enjoyed the game visual wise!

All and all, this game is pretty good! I’d like to play a lot more of it with my friends! It is $14.99USD to play. But it is on sale right for for $7.49USD .I encourage you guys to pick it up! The link is down below! If I had to rate this game, I would happily give it 7/10 Liy Points =D It is a fun game but the reload feature cost my life a few times =(
