Pokemon Sword/Shield

So, before I start, I am aware that this game is under a lot of bad rep. Though I do agree with a lot of the fans complaining, they will no have a big part in the review. Even though I believe all reviews are based on personal opinions, like most of my reviews. Please be aware, there are SPOILERS in this review. If you haven’t played and want to, or haven’t beaten it yet just be aware.

The story is alright. Honestly the bad guys (Team Yell) don’t really SEEM like they’re bad. I never felt like they were out to destroy the world. Honestly, it just seemed like they were so into Marnie. Every time I’ve interacted with them as part of the story, they always used phrases like “borrow this” and “I”m just practicing my chant”. Nothing really seemed malicious…You really don’t see who’s really the evil villains until the very end of the game. Even so, were they really evil? I mean yea. Do I think they’re spoiled rotten royal pains in the ass? You betcha!

I honestly think the Wilderness is my favorite part of this game. I really liked it in Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu. I really like that there are some Pokemon that are a little too high level running around. Why do I like this? Because it was fun being chased by a big HUGE Bewear that is screeching at you. Camping is also a lot of fun. Playing with your Pokemon, visiting random people and cooking just makes it feel real. Now, I am a HUGE fan of Cooking Mama, and cooking made me feel like I was playing it.

The reintroduction of Gyms made the game feel like my childhood. They did get changed up a little bit, but to me it’s a welcomed changed. They added some little trials at the start of the gym. Each gym had little puzzles or little strategy testers before you can fight the gym leader. I am a little sad that each gym leader has like 3 Pokemon though. I was sitting here like “I’m sorry what? I’m allowed to have 6 and you have 3? That doesn’t seem very fair to you…” Of course they respond with a full heal and I rage.

Don’t forget to talk to the Poke-ball man for your free fancy ball 😀

So boy, these Dynamax raids and fights are something else. As much as I adore new mechanics I feel like it’s kind of boring compared to what could be in the game, or what shouldn’t be in the game. I do like that you can invite your friends to the raids and how they will fill up the party with random NPC’s to fill it up and give you a chance at catching the pokemon. Something I found kind of strange but I think I understand it, is you can only throw a ball once to attempt to catch it. If you fail it is GONE. But Long Meowth kind of fills the void that Elgeym left in my heart.

To be honest, I rather enjoy this game. I’m glad it came out, though I am very sad that there’s not all of the Pokemon in it and I can’t really relive my childhood on this game, it doesn’t make it inherently bad. Recently, Pokemon games have been kind of a hit or miss for me. Either it’s an amazing game and I love it or it’s just a pokemon game.

With that being said, I enjoyed the game, I sat and played for hours when it launched. I laughed a few times and after I got through the gyms the story got kind of stupid..

Sword and Shield is going to get a 8/10. Though I really enjoyed it, it’s not really hitting the real nostalgia mark. I might just be getting to the point in my age where the new forms of X Pokemon are just stupid or what but I still liked the game enough to sit down for literally hours farming Pokemon and progressing through the story.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

So, this is a review that I really wanted to wait for because I quite literally wanted to make sure I played this game so I could write about everything you can do. Oh man, it’s worth it I promise.

So, going to be honest with you I have go to play most parts of this game, the only thing I couldn’t get to yet was the Marriage. So when I get to this part, I will post an update 😀

This is my first Fire Emblem game since the GameCube, so when I saw this was coming out for the switch I was excited! The storylines are just how i remember. They’re super detail orientated as well as let you go your own path if you want. There is just so much to do in this game that it’s just so hard to make a review.

So let’s start with the story. It’s amazing. The amount of everything they included is great. Each month there’s always something going on whether it’s a fight or a party. Every character seems to have a very special role in the game as well. They’re not just thrown in there to take up space. As you go on with the game, and listen and pay attention you can find out what makes everyone tick. Each house leader had their own problems as well and as they grow, they effect the outcome of your game. All in all with out spoiling anything (since the game has so much replay and so much to do ) it’s well worth the money.

When you interact with the other people in the game, you can hurt or make a relationship with them. If you don’t care to know anything about anyone, you might not have a good reputation with them, and they wont help you out. However, if you take the time to learn the likes and dislikes of certain people you can end up getting them into you House. I’ve done that with a few people that weren’t in a house, and it makes combat a lot more fun. I’m just sad to cycle out some people but they always seemed to want nothing to do with learning or anything. So what’s best for the house.

Combat is another amazing thing this game has to offer. the various classes you can pick from and how you get there always makes it an adventure. Each phase in the game is turn based when it comes to combat. You have a few options to pick from when it comes to that. The trick to this is to know what type of play style you’re doing, who can best support that and if they’re capable of doing that.

Now, I am more of a fan of RTS and not Turn based, but I like how they did it. You basically have two options, you can do the strategy yourself or you can select the AI to do it you. When you select the character you want to move, they give you a few options you can do, where you can how and who you can attack. You can even select them to heal if they can obviously.

All in all, this game is amazing. The story and the combat really makes it great. The amount of ways you can interact with the characters and students in the game are numerous. From tea parties to giving them a simple present. Nothing at the moment can beat this game.

With everything being said, this game is a total 10/10. This is a game that I can’t seem to fault, even when I lose a fight. It’s so easy to see your mistake and learn from it, or see several mistakes and learn. I can’t seem to put this game down, and the replay value is there. If I dare say, this is a GOTY.

Wuddup guys?

Hey all! It’s finally November! I am still in awe about how fast this year has passed. I will say tho, that 2019 has been one of the fastest years I have ever seen. Not that I’m complaining at all, but it’s still neat.

So, I’m sure you have all noticed that I kind of disappeared. I can assure you that I didn’t mean for it. To be honest with you guys, the construction on my house started earlier than we thought, and when I would try to do something with the internet, they accidentally cut it. Haha. It was kind of funny to me, but I took the time to catch up on my book and a few other things.

The construction finally ended at the end of October, the real task now is to put my house back together. It is coming along nicely and we got to rearrange bits and pieces of the house too which is amazing. I’m very excited and I think this is going to be a great start to 2020. Until the house is back to normal, I’m not going to have a set stream schedule. I’m going to try to stream tomorrow, the 4th, but I don’t feel comfortable committing to that yet. I still have a few things to catch up on with redoing my house, but I do believe it wont take much longer and I can get a stream schedule back up and running, and know what games I want to play.

I also have some pretty exciting news that also interferes with my time is I came into a large collection of Magic Cards that I am in the process of cataloging and arranging to make it easier to sell them. I wish I was lying when I said I think I bit off a little more than I can chew, but I also really like challenges like this! I can’t wait to finish this and get it all up and running. I’m thinking about doing business cards (hehe I’m silly I know but it would be for this too!!) but we’ll have to see what is going on.

There is still a lot that i need to get done, like I said before. I have a few reviews in the writing right now that I need to finish before I can publish them, but I haven’t forgotten about them. There has just been a lot going on and it’s made it a little harder to keep up with things.

So thank you for sticking with me guys! I absolutely love every single one of you and I thank you all for your constant support. As always, feel free to reach out to me on twitter or even email me at lily@unicornmuffin.tv .

Hey guys <3

Wow it’s been awhile since I’ve made a post, I’m so sorry haha . It totally wasn’t on purpose that’s for sure. So I hope you guys can forgive me. There has been a lot going on that has prevented me from posting but I’m getting some posts up here shortly. 😀

I hope you all have been well while I’ve been taking the time to play catch up on a lot of things. I have been trying to stream more since there’s been a few more games added to my list of things to play. I have also been engulfed in Fire Emblem, so that review is going to be coming up here shortly so keep an eye out for that.

I have also been trying out some live cooking streams and I have taken notes on how to improve that, so keep an eye out for those, and some other tutorials I have in mind too for my YouTube channel. So I have that on my list of things to do!

There’s a real reason for this post now. In case you have missed the tweet, I have a fun new health problem. Monday, the 29th, I was informed that I have fibromyalgia. So what is this exactly? It’s musculoskeletal pain. It kind of amplifies the pain because it really changes how the brain sends the pain signals.

There are a lot of other symptoms of FMS like fatigue, mood swings ect. This is something I have been secretly preparing for due to some health history but I’ll be alright. We have been taking some time to make a game plan for the future but I’m just going to add this to my lists of battles I will win 😀

I’d be lying to you guys if I said I wasn’t scared. Coming from someone who (as of thise date) has a terminal problem already, the thought of being in constant agony is kind of terrifying. I’ve dealt with the outbursts here for the past few years but just knowing those are going to get worse. Oh boy. The unknown is scary. But, if you have known me for a long ass time, you’ll know I’ll start smiling again shortly.

It takes quite a lot to get me down, honestly. This isn’t going to be one of those things. I’ll make it and be back to normal here shortly. I don’t expect it to interfere with anything regarding this, or my actual life for a few years or so. So that’s always exciting 😀

I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me and made sure everything was ok. I appreciate everything you guys do from your support to your happy messages. The only thing I will ask of you guys is stay awesome. I love you all and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the month! I’ll be working on the reviews tomorrow to have them posted here shortly

Happy 4th of July

From all of us here at Unicornmuffin TV we wish you a Happy 4th of July. A lot has been going on this month, and my game library has gotten even longer. I didn’t mean to not post any reviews by all means but I totally have more games lined up I just need the time to play them hahaha….So with that being said, this will be a short blog post!

I have been trying to be more active on Twitch, Facebook and twitter. I’m hoping I can keep those up! Eventually I’ll have some sort of schedule worked out for streaming, and what I want to do with a Patreon that I’ve been toying with. I have a few ideas in the works so we’ll see how this goes.

Other than that, I have nothing really else to add! Don’t forget to like share and sub to everything in my contacts and just be awesome like always!!!

Stay safe this holiday season ok? OK! See you next stream!!!

Ugly Dolls and the Imperfect Adventure

When I started to see commercials for this game, I knew that I had to play it. If you know me, then you know I enjoy random games like this. I think things like the characters in this game are adorable AF. I will also let you know before I get into this review, is I cannot wait for the cartoon!

So when the game starts the narrator goes over the story. It’s kind of interesting. they go to explain how there’s basically two city type areas next to each other. One was their town, Uglyville. Next to them, and was separated is Perfection. Well somehow, a robot got in and discovered how much chaos Uglyville had. So naturally, he called his friends to help clean up the area.

Your goal, is to find a way to send the robots back. At first, you’re able to do everything just fine. As you go around the town you collect materials and buttons from around town. You can use the buttons to summon friends for quests, or to purchase upgrades or other items from people in town. The materials are used to build things you need to complete your quests nd uch.

Questing is where I’m torn on. I loved how unique everything is, how you kind of have to explore or use the scouting item to find your objectives…but then after that it gets tedious. Most of the quests include you farming for items or crafting many different things that you need to collect from other things in order to finish. Now, I’m all for farming things. But when I have to literally spend hours trying to get the materials I need to make a bag to get a Wifi password it gets daunting.

Besides the mass farming I have to do to progress, I really enjoyed this game. Would i go back and play it again? Probably. Honestly, it’s not bad, but it wasn’t Cat Quests, or even BFA. It was a great game, and as always I encourage you to try it ut for yourself.

In truth, this game gets a 6/10. I really liked it, but the collecting of items became tiresome and I just couldn’t sit down and do a play through of the game. I don’t mind because I felt like I got my money’s worth out of it, so it wasn’t all bad 🙂

E3 2019 thoughts

So, this time there wont be a podcast going over E3. I’m rather sad but it’s alright 🙂 so here I am writing this out to you guys. I’m going to be honest. This year, E3 was a roller coaster of emotions. I’ll do my best to keep it in order, but I think I’m going to start with the things I’m excited for and then go from there if that’s alright. I also apologize for this post being a week late! I didn’t mean to be lazy and forget to finish writing this haha.

So, I’m going to start off by saying two words. Keanu Reeves. If you’ve been paying attention you can see why this is number one. This god like man is going to be in Cyberpunk 2077. I’ve been keeping a close eye on this game. and let’s face it. CD Projekt Red is an amazing company. The fact they legit love their fans and care about what they want. Adding some thank you notes in their games is another reason why I support these guys!!! They always seem to deliver what they promise and I can’t wait to get this game and play it.

I’m going to sneak Halo Infinite in this list too. If you know me, you know that I love this series. Now I’ll be honest, they lost me a little with 5, but I think they’re going to win me back with this one. It’s like a legit Halo game, where you are the big MC and It’s just great 😀 I’m going to throw Ghostwire:Tokyo into this as well. The story seems rather unique and I can’t wait to see more about this!!! Of course I also loved Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Ghost vs Ghost?! HELL YEAH!!!!!

Of course you have Sega getting back out there with some Panzer Dragoon and Phantasy Star Online 2. I just hope it makes it over here because I rather enjoy Panzer, and Phantasy Star Online has been out in Japan for quite a long time. You also have Dauntless from Phoenix Labs coming to Switch and a new Yooka-Laylee. But this begs the question, will we see an actual Banjo-Kazooie game? Who knows at this point. The only thing I have to give me even a sliver of hope is that he’s in Super Smash now.

Namco is also throwing some nice games into the ring. Code Vein is something I’ve been waiting for, for quite a few years, and I’m excited to see some more things about it. Man of Medan is also a very interesting game, and that it’s part of an Anthology? Can’t wait!! I can’t forget to talk about Dragonball Z: Kakarot. I mean we get to see what happened during the whol DBZ series and I just can’t wait to get some questions answered 😀

So, as expected, we got to see a look into a lot of the titles we see almost yearly. They showed off the new COD: MW. I will say I was excited to see a lot of familiar faces, and that their season pass would be free, and so forth. You also got to see more information about Ghost Recon. I love the idea of Ghost vs Ghost, I think it’s neat. But I’m concerned it’s going to be like the other games where it’s rinse and repeat these quests all over again in new areas, Far Cry style if you will.

At the time of this article as well, there was more information released about Sword and Shield. This is a bittersweet thing for me. There was a statement made where not every single Pokemon would be in the game. Though I was sad to hear this, I understand their decision to a point. But let’s be honest here. Something seems off about this and I’m not sure how to truly feel about this. I mean their 3D graphics are still almost 3DS quality so with the power of the Switch, I find it a little hard to believe their thought process but maybe they’ll retract. Who knows.

So, I’m going to be bias with my worst part of E3 list. The PC part was a huge disappointment to me. For those who don’t know, and I’m sure I’ll get some form of shit from this, I’m not an Epic Games fan. Without going into a lot of details, I was upset to see a few games I was looking forward to going Epic Exclusive. Shenmue 3 was the big one. As of this article, they have stated they are now releasing on Steam, but I wont hold my breath on this. So we’ll have to see. Some of the other exclusives were already known. Now, I’m not saying I’m not going to play these games. Eventually I will. But I don’t really care if you enjoy Epic. We’re all adults here, and can make their own choices 🙂

All in all, it was a solid 50/50 this year. There were a lot of things I was excited to hear, but at the same time there are other games I was anxious to see about and there was nothing about them. So what do you guys think of E3? Did you love anything you say? Did something upset you? Let me know in the comments below 😀

Little Friends Dogs & Cats

It was only a matter of time before we had some version of Nintendogs on the Switch. I have been patiently waiting for something to occupy my time when I don’t have my 3DS on me or busy playing World of Warcraft. I can hear it now….”But Lily, you have a real cat” Yes. But my need for a dog is fulfilled through this game haha.

Since the launch of the Switch, it was only a matter of time for a Nintendogs clone. When I saw the information about it, I was rather excited! I mean, how can this game be bad? I mean….it’s a clone, that’s for sure…

Little Friends, starts off the same way like the 3DS/DS games. You have a choice between a few dogs in a tiny little yard, and when you pick one, and name it you then make them comfortable in the house. The first time I noticed, it doesn’t matter what I name my dog, and even if I scream it’s name it doesn’t her me. The lack of mic is disturbing. One of the features I really miss honestly, besides some of the other lacking mini games.

There’s really only around 4 things you can do with your dog. Take care of it,walk it/train, dress it up, and disc competitions. I’ll go over the different things below. But I do have one question for you guys. You can get different flavors of food (and only food btw )….why would a dog want Fish flavored food? Or…better yet, Chicken Beef Fish flavored food? Personally I have never met a dog that enjoyed fish, but maybe I just met weird dogs. So I don’t know

Now, that you have this dog you have to take care of it. How do you do this? Well there’s quite a few ways you can do this. You can pet them, brush them and oh, and keep their toilet clean (wtf?) So there’s two ways you can do the petting and the brushing. The easiest one for me, want keeping the joycons on the console and using the buttons or the touch screen. There’s a little meter on the bottom of the screen that tells you how clean or happy they are. The other way to do so is use the joycons as motion controllers. I had a little bit of problems with this feature. I think it’s because the Switch doesn’t sit in front of me like the developers were hoping for. No matter how many times I “calibrated” the joy cons I was always off center and never could do anything right. It was frustrating and made it near impossible to keep Beuker clean.

Walking your dog is a strange mini game in itself. It’s an enclosed track where you have a set goal to achieve for a reward. Example, dig up two treasures, mark 5 locations and walk 200km. Pretty simple right? Not too hard. these are something you can easily do with little to no problems. The lack of different areas you can walks is a little boring. It’s one long track, and honestly by your 3rd or 4th walk, you have seen it all. You don’t encounter others, you can’t do anything besides dig at balloons, walk in a giant circle and pee on sign posts. Training your dog is super easy too. Since there’s only one event you can do with your dog, it takes no effort to train their secret catching stat to help you win the competitions. Once more, it was easy to do the motions with the Frisbee when the joy-cons were attached to the actual Switch, rather than me using the motion controls. Again, I’m not entirely sure if it’s just where my Switch is compared to me but calibrating never fixed my problem. Even so, this caused a few losses that I’m not going to get into right now.

So, like I said above, there’s only one event you can par take in and it’s disc throwing. I don’t know if Nintendogs just pampered me or something, but I like having multiple things I can do with my dog. I liked training new tricks with commands. Where as, tricks here and manually learned and you really don’t have any say in them. I mean, come on. Really? The disc throwing stuff is the same thing no matter what level you pick. From Armature to Master, the only thing that’s different is the AI have a high catching skill. You have to use tickets to participate in the events too. I was “lucky” to never have run out of tickets but I can’t imagine how screwed you’d be if you did. It’s strange that you have to pay to enter these games, but you do.

The did add a little bit of a dress up function to this game. They have hats, shirts, scarves, pants, ect ect ect. There’s a lot you can purchase, unlock or use tickets for. You can also spice up your house a little with set pieces of furniture, set layouts and that’s about it. Literally the most exciting thing was dressing up Beuker with nifty glasses and a weird onsies with spots.

Once you hit level 15, you can unlock the friend plaza, and all this place does is gives you the chance to unlock more breeds for you to own. I mean there’s not much more to this place then that.

Being honest. I think this game is lacking compared to Nintendogs, but I will admit to sitting down for several hours at a time to play this game. The one thing I want to note about this game is it is by a different company, but I think they were trying too hard to compare it to Nintendogs,l and ended up lacking in some of the features that made Nintendogs fun. Yes you can take care of a virtual pet, and you can do s few fun things with it. But that’s about it. The animal never feels any sort of real. I think the switch is a great system, but this is a game that deserves a mic.

I’m going to give this game a 4/10. I had fun with the parts that I played, but I didn’t feel fulfilled. I really needed more to keep my interest in the game more than a disc throwing event, and feeding the dog fish flavored food.

The big announcement!

Hey guys! How’s everyone? Good I hope!!! So, if you’ve been following Facebook or Twitter, then you know I have been thinking about rebranding. For quite awhile, I have been stuck in a rut with UnicornMuffin Games. Now, please don’t get this wrong. I love games. I will always love them. I will always play games and I still stream games!

With that being said, I am super excited to announce that I am renaming myself to UnicornMuffin TV. Now, I know that this website is called UnicornMuffin. TV so there’s already one thing done. 😉

So, what all is changing? First, I’m just expanding what I do. I’m still going to stream/play games. I am also going to be adding a lot more to my streams as well. This is going to include making cosplay costumes. Sewing, cutting and the final creations. I am also adding cooking into the list. This will be creating random game themed food, or just any food in general. There will be a few beta streams for the new additions to the livestreams to get everything sorted out. My drawing will also be added to the rotation. I know I already do some art streams.

Honestly, I’m excited for this. I think this will be a nice way to kind of just enjoy who I am, and what I do. So with adding everything into the streaming line up, and just myself in general, I am so happy to announce UnicornMuffin TV as my new name, my new persona.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at Lily@unicornmuffin.tv or tweet out to me!!! I do ask that you bare with me a little bit as I make the name transition over the next few days and the new icons. I’m still going to be the awesome Lily you have all come to know and love, but I’m just adding more to like.

Thank you all for your love and support! You are the reason why I keep doing the things I do! Stay awesome everyone!
