Super Mario Party Switch

I have really been looking forward to this game for awhile. Since we had out extra copies checked out, I wasn’t able to do Assassin’s creed but that’s ok! I’m still happy with my choice regardless of what game is today’s review.

So first, I’m excited that I was able to play this game alone. As someone who has very little friends that I could play with, I’m excited that i could rely on NPCs  to be there for me and want us to win. I am so grateful I have them in my shy guy life.

So I’m going to be rather honest here, and let you all know it’s been a few years since I’ve actually sat and played a Mario Party game. I honestly can’t really remember the last time I played one, so from what I DO remember (I’m pretty sure I played on the Wii) I had a lot of fun, and with the new additional play modes, I think it has done the game a lot of justice.  I really liked that I could play three different ways.

Old Way: Board game. I forgot how fun it was to watch the NPCs roll, mess up  and all of that other fun stuff. That’s about the only thing I really remember from Mario party games. That and the cute mini games that remind me of Warioware. God, I love that game. If you ever want a fun game to play with your friends hitting the booze, this is it. So the one thing I really love is that each character has their own dice. Which I love. I am a huge Shy guy fan, and my dice was pretty good mix. I think it was like 04446. I don’t really remember haha. You can set up how many turns you have per game and it’s nice enough to give you the average time it takes to do one game.  You can get allies too that can help you with rolls and such. It’s great. When you get them at least haha. When your npc foes get them, it’s a little

Rhythm or Rhyme! Both, I’m terrible at.  So safe to say, I was total garbage for these games.  But, the great variation there was made it fun even though I was super terrible I liked the whack a mole and the batting cage. I don’t have too much more to say on that

I also rather enjoy the rafting mode as well, but this one really requires teamwork, and a lot of us  screaming at the NPCs Mostly. “MARIO CALM DOWN” or “YOSHI WHAT ARE YOU DOINg?!?!” It made for a lot of fun in the long run. With the endless outcomes, it’s safe to say that none of the games will play the same. I really like these kind of games.

All in all, I lost several hours into this game, and I’m sure if I wasn’t really paying attention,  trust me. All in all, I recommend this game if you have friends and want to play with them. The only caution I have is that the game is only compatible with Joycons. That was kind of turn off for me …that or you can pay to play with your friends on another switch. Not that I’m against the pay to play, but I am against paying for more controllers (jk).

At the end of the day, I give this game a 9/10 stars. I really liked it. It was fun to play alone as well with other people. It’s a great way to kill several hours or just a minute.

Super Mario Oddesy

There’s going to be several reviews for some older games on here for a few weeks. I apologize in advanced :3 Forgive me >.<~<3

Man, I really don’t know where to start with this game.  I also mean this in a good way. This is a game that has gotten a lot of hype over the year and every Mario and Nintendo fan was waiting for the next real Mario game. I mean let’s face it. Mario and Rabbids was alright but no replay value and RTS FPS? Really? Sorry, we’ll do this at a different time…really. I promise.

So, I want to start this off with the controls, because I feel like I can spice things up a little with chaning the order I do review, but I want I also want to make this a topic that you should cnsider when getting this game…It really uses the Joy Cons the way they were meant to be used with out taking away from the game itself, but fear not as you can also use the Pro Contoller, Hari Pad and any other sort of device on your switch without losing a lot of the aspects of Cappy and his sick tricks!

So, going back to the actual controls, you can control what Cappy does with a flick of a wrist or even a push of a button, you have all of control. To do a sick spin, move your wirst one way, to do a sicker spin move it the other way. I feel like they really used the Joycons and I feel like it made the game more fun.

There’s a decent amount of puzzles and problem solving in the game as well. Figuring out how to get the extra moons and get from one area to the next kind of makes you think. With the many different ways you can use Cappy, it makes the game a lot more fun and added elements that just make the Mario games more rich and fun to play.  I like games that make me actually THINK instead of “this is your objective. go here. Good gamer. Here’s your treat”

So, what does Cappy do? Boy…let me tell you. First, he gives you the option to jump on him, throw him spin him ect ect ect. But the most important part if you can use Cappy to take control of other creatures or objects!! The video with the T-rex with the mustache? Real. Mario turning into a ball of energy? Real. Goomba? Yes. Frogs? Ribbit! Almost everything living (or electrical) can be Mario! I love how unique this is and how literally every creature has it’s own powers and ways to play. Bravo guys! This is an amazing element to the game!!!

I will admit, I didn’t use any walk through or stuff during my initial play through. I wanted to experience everything in the raw. But when I got stuck, I was amazed on how many things I MISSED while playing. Luckily you’re able to go back and do them. Phew! With so much to do after you finish, this game was well worth the 60 USD and much more!

The story line is really the same as all of the other Mario games. Peach gets captured and you have to save her ect ect ect. I mean you get to crash a wedding and if you get the Peach Amiibo you can have Mario is a wedding dress. So that’s pretty fun. There’s not really much more to the story. I mean you meet Cappy and he tells you about the Odyssey and how it’s powered and what to do. But then it’s straight back to “Save the Princess Mario!”

All in all, I loved the game. I still do. It’s one of the few Switch games I own currently and so far I don’t regret it. Hopefully that won’t change 😀

I give Super Mario Odyssey 7/10 moons. I love the challenge, the puzzles and the game play.  It’s a fun game with decent replay value and so many hidden things you have to explore! Check it out!

Mario Kart 8

I’ve been a big fan of Mario Kart for years now, since I was about 10 years old. I was first introduced to the Series in the N64 and I fell in love with it. Once I got Toad, there was NO stopping me! Except for Rainbow Road…Yeah that was pretty hard!

With the new installment of Mario Kart, you get to travel to different locations, both new and remastered, and race some old friends and some new ones. Like with each game, the goal is to win the race in 3 laps.  I must say, to actually have the time to sit down and place this, I realized how much I actually miss the other games.  I fancy using the Game Pad instead of controllers (something that I don’t recommend for multi player as the tiny screen splits off and it’s harder to see) so that it’s easier for me to see what’s going on. The Game Pad also lets you see where others are on the race track as well as the score, and of course my favorite part, the horn!!! The controls are easy to get use to, only took me about 1 minutes. A is accelerate, left bumper is item ect ect.

One of the things I found interesting if when you play with more people, the NPC’s get more intelligent when one person is doing better than the others, they don’t tend to go after the better player but seem to harass the players who are following behind.  I feel it to be an incentive to whoop butt, but of course when you start to, the NPC shut you down…Oh well! Just means you have to be first next time!!!

The graphics, oh my gosh, are awesome. N64 Rainbow Road remake is so beautiful. I loved it back in the day but I really love it now! The course itself is still like it was, a wee bit difficult but once I got my grasp, it was a piece of cake! I especially enjoy the looks the characters give when they pass or hit you with an item. Sometimes they are just too funny it’s hard to concentrate on the next race.  For a kids game, they put a lot of time and effort into making it both visually and audio appealing. There is no sound that I don’t like in this game, as there have in the past.  I’m very happy with this game!

Mario Kart 8 is not only a fun installment to the Mario Kart Series, it offers a bit of Nostalgia for those who have been a loyal follower, and an exciting new game for those who are new to the series. I enjoy this game when I have the free time to kill or just to relax with some friends.  The NPC intelligence is very nice but can get super annoying, especially in Multi Player. I love the graphics and music! They’re unique to each Track. player and NPC!

I give this game a 8/10!

Super Mario 3D World

Save the Fairies! Bowser has taken the time to capture many fairies.  Solve puzzles, kill bosses and become a kitty in order to save the world!

A normal day starts off in the beginning of the game, but it’s never a Mario game unless Bowser takes someone and you have to save them! He ends up stealing the  Sprixie Princesses. You travel through six different worlds, each ending in a castle fight where the ultimate rewards is a Princess who then opens up a pipe to the next area.

The game play is rather simple. When you use an actual controller, it plays like any other Mario game. You can also use the WiiMote, which is held sideways or you can use to game pad. Which, if you use it wrong really messes with the camera angle and you can end up causing more troubles then being helpful, but more on that later.

This game introduced a fun item to the game. A Cat Bell. The bell is needed to solve many platforms and it’s just so darn cute! You get the ability to climb walls and attack with your claws. It’s very fun. You also have the Fire Flower and the  Tanooki leaf. Each item can be stored now as well so now you can have one of each and change when it’s needed. I really like this feature especially when I would get hit and lose my suit.

Though you can play with other people, there are some games that you will have to play alone, using the game pad. They are extra little puzzles that grant you stars and coins. The game pad, like I said before, can be used as an controller but you have to be a little careful if you are playing with other people. You can adjust the camera angle, making the game harder or easier depending on how you do it.  When I played this with my friend, he kept changing the camera angle and I kept falling off the edge!!!

I really enjoyed the music. It gave a nice feel to each level and it changed as you got further into a puzzle. It really kept my interest while avoiding Koopa Troopas and Goombas (Which, I want to add, can be kitties too). The graphics were as great as the music. You can really tell the difference on this system then with the Wii. They are more HD and vastly more detailed as well. You can see each scale on Bowser’s arm and the little tuff of fur on your kitty Toad’s head!

This is just a great game all around. I give it a 8/10. It’s easy and fun to play and it’s worth tthe hours you put into it. There is a deceant amount of replay value to the game as well. I didn’t like that the game pad changes the camera angle whenever you use it. It makes for easy trolling or accidents that can result in a lost life. Other then that, I really loved this game!!!
